Say-Goodbye-to-Summer Stand-Up Comedy Night Curated by Sir Jerrod Cardwell
…Spread the Word

The Speakeasy is transformed into a top L.A. comedy club when comedy writer Jerrod Cardwell brings some of the best and coolest L.A. comedians to our August soiree, curated by Jerrod Cardwell and hosted by Chris Bonno of Fake Radio fame.

Jerrod Cardwell has written for everyone from George Lopez to Carrot Top to Peter Bergman of Firesign Theater and the L.A. legend Frazer Smith. He promises an evening featuring a mix of up and coming comics and veterans that you've seen everywhere from Comedy Central, to MTV to the Tonight Show.

The evening's bookmark artist is Yuriko Etue, whose focus has been on creating public art in hospitals and schools. For the Speakeasy bookmark, she has created a more intimate, private artwork, available the night of the event.

As always, we will serve piping hot, organic, locally roasted, sustainably farmed coffee from the Coffee Cellar ( www.coffeecellar.com ) and, yes, there will be a secret not-too-funny cocktail.

Yuriko Etue graduated from Tokyo's prestigious Musashino Art University before following her dream to come to the United States. "When I arrived in Seattle's Pioneer Square," says Etue, "I had one suitcase and a goal to become a helicopter pilot. Instead, I worked as a scenic artist at the Seattle Children's Theater and the Seattle Opera. But I did learn to fly an airplane." In 2001,Yuriko and husband Jim founded the Silverlakers ( www.silverlakers.com ) and together have created public arts works commissioned by the City of Los Angeles at Logan Elementary, Allesandro, Elysian Heights and for public spaces across Los Angeles. Her art can also be found at the Sunset Triangle Park on Sunset blvd.

Chris Bonno
, once voted the Funniest Person in Austin, is a regular performer at the Improv in LA, with the improv troupe The Fugitives, and at the ACME comedy theater with the improvisational forties radio comedy troupe Liquid Radio Players and has also done numerous shows with the Fake Radio Players performing in live traditional radio shows with a comic twist. He wrote for the VH1 pilot Popshot and created commercial parodies for the Disney Channel. He now is the writer and voice of Spike TV's deluded cartoon mascot named Roger. You may also remember him as the voice of the Red Bull frog prince. Bonno recently returned from a comedy tour including gigs in New York's Caroline's Comedy Club and Cobb's comedy club in San Francisco. His TV career includes appearances on "Just Shoot Me," "Rock Me Baby," "The Drew Carey Show," "Mad About You" and Oxygen's Movie of the Week, "Nadine in Dateland," playing a detective opposite Janeane Garofalo.   Most recently, Bonno filmed a guest star role on the new Comedy Central series Halfway Home with The Office's Oscar Nunez and a co-star role, playing opposite Michael Rappaport on Fox's The War at Home.
