Sunday, March 27th 8:00pm

Don’t miss the sexiest Easter Sunday ever, at the Speakeasy! Guest author Rob Roberge will present his dark, evocative tale, More Than They Could Chew (Perennial Dark Alley/Harper Collins), followed by biblically-themed burlesque by L.A.’s own Pleasant Gehman (also author of Escape From Houdini Mountain and The Underground Guide To Los Angeles, both on manic D press), Penny Starr Jr., Miss Josie, Miette Maxwell and Ananka.

Password is: “Your trouble will cease and fortune will smile upon you.”

Copies of Rob Roberge More Than They Could Chew (which Kinky Friedman calls “gritty, funky, addictive, and written with eloquent ruthlessness as all the good ones are.”) will be available for purchase courtesy of Skylight Books.

Rob Roberge is a novelist, screenwriter, and director, and plays in a rock ‘n roll band. His short fiction has appeared in numerous literary journals, including the Literary Review. He lives in California. Want more? Please visit www.robroberge.net

Christine Kessler is a Los Angeles native and self-professed smut-peddling pornographer. She's been behind the camera since the mid 80s, and her work has appeared in galleries, magazines, books, and across the web. The majority of her work can be found on her websites, www.MyFetishDiary.com and www.ToeandArch.com which she updates weekly.

Penny Starr, JR. has curated the evening’s burlesque performances. Following in her grandmother’s Frederick’s of Hollywood platformed footsteps, Penny Starr Jr. is the stage persona of Philly-Girl and Los Angeles filmmaker Augusta. After spending 3 years making her documentary on LA’s premiere burlesque troupe, THE VELVET HAMMER BURLESQUE, it was no wonder that she decided to pick up the mantle held by her grandmother, Philadelphia burlesque dancer, Penny Starr. Or, as Augusta puts it “You can only live with the circus for so long before you want to join!” Last year, on the one year anniversary of her debut, Penny Starr Jr. took First Runner-Up at the 2004 Miss Exotic World Comeptition. She regurlarly performs at Bricktops at the Parlour Club and at LUCHA VA VOOM, the Mexican Wrestling/Burlesque event. You can check out her website at www.itsachick.com.
