Say…
Speakeasy
Sunday
May 25th 2003
The night’s delights will begin with the one and only Mr.
Uncertain (Anthony Sunseri) playing old-time piano and
singing original cabaret songs.
Visual artist Amy Jo Diaz has created the May
bookmark. Amy Jo received her BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute,
and moved to downtown Los Angeles on a whim last year. Her work
has been included in shows at Ground Zero downtown, Black Dragon
Society in Chinatown, New Image Art in Hollywood, and numerous
galleries in San Francisco.
And now a little more about who else and what else awaits you
Sunday night…
The Younger Degenerates present The Hearst
Castle Gaieties
Spend 25 minutes with Louise Brooks, Billy Haines and all the
other holiday weekend guests of Marion Davies and William Randolph
Hearst. The Younger Degenerates visit The Speakeasy Cabaret as
part of their worldwide Hearst Castle Gaieties Tour, Hamburg-London-Los
Angeles. Join them as they recreate Pepi Lederer's legendary Hearst
Castle after dinner show The Magoos. This archival reconstruction
restores all the songs as well as the lost bassoon and accordion
accompaniment cut from the original 1928 performance when Billy
Haines deemed the songs "Too much honey, even for me. The
Chief (Hearst) will throw us the hell out of here on the spot
if we sing these.”
The Cherry Tartes
The Cherry Tartes are a company of women who
create dances in the spirit of friendship and feminine beauty.
Based in Los Angeles, this evocative and eclectic burlesque troupe
is comprised of dancers, choreographers, writers, educators and
producers. The Tartes can be scene in a variety of locations in
the LA area and for their upcoming shows or for more info check
these lovely ladies out on the web at:

Robbie D.
ROBBIE D. is a weird-assed singer who re-located
back to Los Angeles from NYC this last year. Robbie's song LOTION
was a baby "electro" hit on the first "electroclash"
CD out of NY. He has a new potty-mouthed CD under the name JER
BER JONES and a new cabaret show TELEKINESIS Tuesdays and Wednesdays
in Silverlake, starting May 27th & 28th at Casita del Campo.
Robbie knows Ms. Christine Louise through the Rachel Rosenthal
Company. Robbie was Rachel's apprentice for 5 years. Please visit
his web site www.robbied.com
for all the frickin’ info you could ever want.
Christopher Wonder of the Travelling
Wonder Show will be serving cotton candy and our secret sipping
potion will be a sparkling pink lemonade punch, sure to set you
up for summer as the Memorial Day weekend wanes. Visit www.travellingwondershow.com
