Sunday, November 28th 8:00pm

L.A.'s stand-up comedy scene comes to the Speakeasy with a night of professional comedians straight from clubs such as the Improv, Comedy Store, and Laugh Factory. Curated by Jerrod Cardwell, a ten year veteran writer for such luminaries as George Lopez, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno and Carrot Top (yes he said it - Carrot Top! - you got a problem with that?), Jerrod brings his friends from the world of stand-up to the Speakeasy stage for a very funny evening. The bookmark artist is Southern California's very own Charles Phoenix. The password is "Schecky".

And the best part, there's no two drink minimum.
(Unless you want it...shh!)

Kitsch-culture archivist-humorist-author and "histo-tainer" Charles Phoenix has always been fascinated with Americana. As a kid growing up in Ontario, California in the '60s and '70s, he became interested in '50s cars while visiting his dad's used car lots. From there his interests grew to art, fashion and architecture.

Charles Phoenix is the author of GOD BLESS AMERICANA: A RETRO VACATION TOUR OF THE USA (Graphic Arts Center Publishing, 2002); SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE 50S: SUN, FUN AND FANTASY (Angel City Press, 2001); FABULOUS LAS VEGAS IN THE 50S: GLITZ, GLAMOUR AND GAMES with co-author Fred E. Basten (Angel City Press, 1999); LEIS, LUAUS AND ALOHAS: THE LURE OF HAWAII IN THE FIFTIES (Island Heritage, 1999) with co-author Fred E. Basten; CRUISING THE POMONA VALLEY, 1930 THRU 1970: A TOUR GUIDE (self-published, 1999). His latest book will be SOUTHERN CALIFORNIALAND: CULTURE IN KODACHROME (Angel City Press, May 2004).
